The Calblanque is a coastal area in southern Spain which in 1987 was designated as a Regional Park for its outstanding natural beauty. The Calblanque is now one of the few coastal areas of in this part of southern Spain which has remained undeveloped. The coastline of the Calblanque is some 13Km long running from the east of Cabo de Palos along to the Bay of Portman.
Very close to where this image was shot are the salt flats of Salinas del Rassall which is still involved in the commercial production of salt. The highly saline waters of Salinas Del Rassall are home to a small number of very unusual species of fish and crustaceans which can tolerate such conditions. File 6942.
